Brendan Howey could be one of the nicest and easiest riders to work with in the business, which combined with a level of style that verges on artistry, makes him one of our favorite athletes world wide. Legendary film maker Aarron Laroque once commented that out of all the top pros he most enjoyed working with riders like Howey...not bad!
Howey rides for Commencal on the Canadian Young Guns Team, supported by Spank, Commencal, Fox suspension, Geax, THE, Five Ten, Evoc MRP. He's also earned a spot as a regular coach with the Camp of Champions, and we're told has become a campers' favorite. No doubt!
We asked Howey about his favorite places to ride and compete. Not surprisingly, Whistler ranks right up at the top, but top competition honors go to UDUG, and top trail goes to the singletrack on the Sunshine Coast (check out Brendan's Sunshine Coast Edit by Laroque Media). Howey fulfilled one of his dreams in 2012 competing at Redbull Rampage, but watching the way he threw around a Supreme DH, there is no question we'll be seeing more of him in Utah.
Favorite tricks include 360's and big whips.
You won't hear a negative word come out of Brendan's mouth about anyone, but he has a special admiration for the riders that took the sport to where it is today, specifically Brandon, Jordie, Aggy, and the Coastal Crew.
Howey rocks Spank Spike 777 Bars, Spike Race and Director Stems, Spike Pedals, and Spike Race28 and Tweet28 wheelsets from Spank Industries. We couldn't be more stoked!
