New Tweet Video from Spank and Fastfokus Productions
Last year at Spank we went to work on our Tweet and Spoon One2One DJ frames, updating just about every inch of them with feedback from their international pro team. The direction was clear, but truly challenging. The goal was to preserve the lightness and "whipability" of the original models, while improving on toe clearance during spin tricks, and downtube clearance for some new forks with taller adjustment control features, as well as to optimize responsiveness in pedal bursts and power hops for today's bigger, faster slopestyle and DJ lines.
To achieve this without increasing overall wheelbase, Spank lengthened the top tube significantly, and reduced the total length of the rear triangle. In the process, the whole rear triangle was tightened while maintaining clearance for larger diameter tires with new chain/seat stay tooling, resulting in a super trim rear section. To complete the new rear triangle, SPANK reinforced the chain/seat stay tubing, and invested in custom forge molds to create the lightest and strongest rear dropout possible. This new custom dropout is knurled to reduce annoying axle slip in the horizontal drops. The seat tube too was shortened to compliment the new rear triangle, and allow riders to slam that saddle. To keep the weight under 2.5kg, SPANK has implemented a completely new double butted tube set, with a classic round profile. Finally, all new welding fixtures had to be created and dialed in to allow for all the changes. Pros and fans alike have been stoked to find that Spank was able to achieve all of this without changing the comfortable 69 degree head tube angle, light weight, and short wheel base they loved.
To kick off the new season, Spank paired up with French Video Producer Damien Vergez, from Fastfokus Productions, to create a fresh new look at the 2012 Tweet frame and component line. Its not the first time Spank and Fastfokus have teamed up. In 2011 Fastfokus produced an incredible 6 part series of videos with the support of Scott, Spank, Marzocchi, and various other sponsors, in which Vergez and his group of talented amateur riders traveled around the world to shred legendary MTB destinations with today's top FR stars such as Kelly McGarry, Yanick Granieri, CG, Gully and more.
